Looe RNLI superheroes to the rescue.
Front page of the Cornish Times today.
The shout in the first hour of 2017 when the volunteer crew from Looe Lifeboat Station responded to the pagers
still wearing their fancy dress costumes has captured the imagination of the media.
Four of our "superheroes" feature on the front page of today's Cornish Times, SWNS news feeds and the national papers.
My thanks to
Superman / Jay Curtis
Spiderman / Robert Deakin
Robin / Brian Bowdler
Bananaman / Matthew Jaycock
for being good sports in adopting their super hero roles during last Wednesday's training evening to re-enact
some of the crew running to the station in costume.
My images were also used in the RNLI Press release

2016 Looe Guide.
The 2016 Looe Guide published by Looe Town Council features an article celebrating 150 years of lifeboats in Looe.
The article features my image of Looe RNLI's current Atlantic 75 B-793 Alan and Margaret
launching just after 5pm on Friday 9th September 2015
responding to reports of a small sailing dinghy in difficulties off Seaton.
- On 28th December 1866 Looe's first lifeboat "The Oxfordshire" was based at the Old Lifeboat Station on the seafront.
- The Oxfordshire was replaced in 1881 by the "The Boys Own No.1".
- In May 1902 a new boat "The Ryder" arrived on station, similar in design to the two previous lifeboats, the Ryder remained until the station was closed in 1930.
- The Ryder has been restored to it's former glory and can be seen in Polperro harbour.
- In 1992 a D class lifeboat from the reserve fleet was stationed in a temporary base at the seafront shelter until 1994 when a new boat D-461 "Spirit of The Royal Ordnance Corps" was officially dedicated.
- In 1998 the RNLI moved into a boathouse on East Looe Quay at Middleton's corner.
- In 2002 the RNLI realised that a larger facility to house a faster in-shore boat was needed. The Albatross site was purchased from the East Looe Town Trust.
- A D class lifeboat, D-574 "Regina Mary" was placed on service on 5 March.
- The new Albatross station was operational in October 2003 with a new Atlantic Class 75 B lifeboat B-793 "Alan & Margaret".
- A new semi-submersible tractor came into service at the same time.
- In November 2010 the Regina Mary was replaced by a new D class lifeboat D-741 "Ollie Naismith".

Outdoor Photography - If you only do one thing this month
I entered Outdoor Photography's November challenge to shoot fireworks and I am delighted to learn that 3 of my images have been selected as runners up.
My images have been published in the February 2009 issue number 110.
Taken at the British Fireworks Championships in Plymouth. Plymouth Sound and the Hoe provide a natural amphitheatre for the displays.
I have been going to the championships for several years and for this submission I decided to enter images concentrating on "abstract" parts of the display rather than the full effect.
My congratulations to Diana Walker who is the winner of the challenge.

Have you noticed that on many web sites when you select a thumbnail image to enlarge, a vista look and feel window opens and expands to the size of the larger image. Well thanks to Lokesh Dhakar he has released the source code of Lightbox under a Creative Commons Attribution 2.5 License. I have started to use this technique on later fozlogs. More details on how to use the scripts can be found on the lightbox website.
