Small open fishing boats are hauled to the top of a steep granite slipway for protection from stormy weather.
In the past a manpowered wooden capstan was used to haul the boats up the slipway.
Now an electric winch has been installed.
The local fisherman land Crabs, Lobsters and Mackerel.
There are a small number of fisherman's cottages and a fish cellar.
Penberth lies on the South Cornwall Coast Path, between Lamorna Cove and Logan's rock just before Porthcurno.
A fisherman's cottage right on the waters edge.
As depicted by a sign on the fish cellar wall, Penberth was transferred to the National Trust in 1957 in memory of thoise who died in the second world war.
