There are several sea stacks along this part of the coast.
Legend has a Cornish giant Bedruthan building steps along the beach, only to be turned back by another giant Diggory.
The National Trust information boards suggest Bedruthan is the name given to the ladders and staircases built by miners to reach the beach below the steep vertical cliffs.
From the beach miners tunneled into the cliffs in search of copper, iron and lead.
The shop at the car park was the "count house" for the mine.
From your high vantage point, you can pick out lone rocks in the sand.
