7th March 2010 - St Pirans Play - Perranporth
SW 7685 5638 - Once again I make no excuses for going back to Gear Sands near
Perranporth for the annual St Pirans play and pilgrimage.
The people of Perranzabuloe celebrate St Piran each year on the Sunday
closest to St Pirans day.For the second year Colin Retallick took on the role as St Piran.

Carrying the Cornish flag proud.
The legend of St Piran tells how the Irish king feared Piran's popularity
with the locals so he ordered soldiers to tie a millstone around Piran's
neck and throw him off a cliff.
The legend tells how Piran floated accross the Irish Sea and washed
ashore at Gear sands, Perranporth, where he built an oratory.
