12th February 2011 - The Rame Peninsula.

The Rame Peninsula is one of the hidden gems of South East Cornwall.

Portwrinkle with its small harbour is on the Western end of Whitsand bay.

At low tide there are rock patterns everywhere.

and reflections in the sand.

We travel East along the old military road to Sharrow point. Looking East over Whitsand bay towards Rame Head.

To the West, Tregantle Beach and Long Sands, with Looe in the far distance.

Hidden in the cliffs at Sharrow Point is Sharrow Grot. Once a Pilchard Palace where the days catch was processed. A man made called "Lugger" excavated a cave in 1794 to cure his gout!

Tucked in behind Rame Head overlooking Plymouth Sound is the fishing village of Cawsand.
