20th June 2009 - Polperro festival - Lord Mayor's procession
The Polperro festival is an annual celebration with music, art, drama and morris dancing events during the week long festival.
Saturday started with the "outgoing" Lord Mayor's procession from the village hall to Big Green.
Villagers, school children and entertainers join John Marshall, the outgoing Lord Mayor at the village hall.
The green man arrives.
The procession makes it way through the narrow streets to Big Green.
The Fabulous Fezheads and Morris Dancers follow.
At the official opening ceremony John Marshall, the outgoing Lord Mayor introduces the new Lord Mayor to the villagers present.
The new Lord Mayor addresses his subjects.
Pipes and Drums escort the new Lord Mayor as he leaves Big Green.
The Lord mayor's first task is to visit each hostelry in Polperro to check their ale is fit for his subject to drink during the festival.
