18th May 2008 - Battle of Stratton re-enactment

The English Civil War came to Cornwall in 1643, when the roundheads under the command of the Earl of Stamford crossed the River Tamar and occupied a hill by Stratton.

Each year the Sealed Knot society re-enact the battle of Stamford Hill. Stamford hill is just to the North of Stratton, which in the 17th century was a thriving small town.
