31st July 2007 - Signs appeared on Havett Hill saying the road was to be closed for 3 days between 30th July and 1st August. Travelling to work on Tuesday morning we saw 2 low loaders parked on the hill, each carrying a 49m long steel bridge beam.

Above the hedgeline a large yellow crane towered over the village. Costing some £2.5m this crane is only 3 weeks old. By the evening two low loaders with huge 49m beams had negociated the sharp corner from the A38 onto Havett Hill.
