Teams from Europe have come together to compete. The long sandy North Cornwall beaches offer great surf for the championships. They use Australian style surfboats. A crew of 4 row with the sweep at the back steering the surfboat. Heats with up to six teams start from the shore line. Rowing out to a mark, they turn around the mark and row / surf back. One of the crew then sprints to their lane flag. First to touch the flag wins the heat. Different teams use the boats. There are heats for both women and men teams.
