4th September 2009 - Pentewan
SX 022 471 Pentewan was once a busy China Clay harbour.
Houses and workshops surround the inner harbour.
Th dock is now fresh water, built by a local mine owner the dock basin is now seperated from the sea by a silted up channel.
The beach is a few yards south of the dock.
Once upon a time the harbour was connected to St Austell by rail. Nearby is Pentwean Sands holiday park.
The wooden jetty is used by the local sailing club.
These are the remains of the harbour wall.
