3rd January 2009 - Godrevy Lighthouse and Gwithian TowansSW 58000-43000 - Another cold but crisp day with the sun shining. So for the first weekend of 2009 we explored the north Cornish coast around Gwithian Towans.Starting at the national Trust car park we can walk North towards Godrevy Head. Behind us is Gwithian and Hayle Towans. There is a well photographed lighthouse on Godrevy island. We were lucky to see a kestrel sitting on a fence pole. The low sun bathed the headland. And the waves are breaking over the dangerous rocks. We then walked South over the Red River to Gwithian Towans. With the tide out there are many people enjoying the beach. Hayle towans stretchs out to the south. To the north Godrevy head and island with the lighthouse. |
