10th November 2007 - The Seed at EdenSculptured from a 167 tonne cornish granite boulder extracted from the De Lank quarry, the face of the oval Seed is decorated using Fibonacci spiral patterns. The Seed is now the centerpiece of the Core education centre at Eden. I am not a great fan of photographing other peoples art forms, however I was attracted to the spiral light pattern within the exhibition space that responded in sympathy with the central sculpture. Looking up at the roof, we can see the aperture through which the Seed was lowered into position. Eden's web site says "the final sculpture weighs in at 70 tonnes, it is four metres high and three metres in diameter at it's widest point. "The Fibonacci spirals represent the extraordinary growth pattern found across the natural world in sunflowers, pine cones and daisies |
