3rd November 2007 - Polperro FireworksThe weather could not be more perfect, a crisp November evening, stars twinkling in the sky and a light breeze.Crowds filled the harbour walls and any vantage points overlooking the harbour. At 6.30pm a bonfire was lit on the beach. Exactly at 7.30pm the display started. As the fireworks were going to be set off from Peak rock, I decided to go along the Warren where I could get a view over the outer harbour wall towards peak rock. Using Peak rock as the launch site, the fireworks gain extra height and Peak rock and the stone walls of the net loft are illuminated by all the different colours. There are also reflections on the water. The narrow harbour give a spetatcular setting for the display. There is a great atmosphere with the "oohs and aahs" from the crowd and gasps of excitement from the children. Various colours and shapes fill the night sky. At he end of the display the pyrotechnic team acknowledge the applause from the crowds. As the crowds return to the car park or start to fill the pubs, restuarants and cafes the harbour returns to tranquility. Click here for more on Polperro. |
