29th July 2007 - Plymouth Classic Boat RallySutton harbour wlecomed the skippers and crew of some 66 classic boats.Plymouth sound provides an ampitheatre for the races. Classic craft are yachts and boats built before 1940 and traditional craft are built after 1940, but this excludes reproduction and modern boats. Composite hulls are non-wooden craft. The boats move out into Plymouth sound for the race. They sail past the breakwater towards Kingsand and Cawsand. On the horizon to the right is Eddystone lighthouse. The Pont L'Abbe ferry from Roscoff arrives into the sound. The ferry navigates it's way through the boats. Sailing yachts leave Queen Anne's Battery for the open sea. |
