18th July 2007 - Treguier - BrittanyOnce the capital of the Tregor, Trequier sits on a hill where the rivers Le Jaudy and Le Guindy meet. The Jaudy is tidal and navigable to large coasters up to the Pont Canada. There is a deep water harbour and marina here. One of the cathedral towers is roman with the others more gothic. The cathedral is built out of the Pink Granite and the spire is fretted to reduce wind resistance. Half timber houses line Rue Rue Ernest-Renan. On Wednesdays market stalls fill the road. This road descends the hill to the river. |
