17th August 2006 - Fowey carnival - Red Arrows, CornwallThe highlight of Fowey carnival week is the aerobatic display by the Red Arrows.On Thursday evening, crowds gather in Fowey, Polruan and every field surrounding the natural ampitheatre of the Fowey estuary. These images were taken from Hall farm at Bodinnick whose fields face south overlooking Polruan, Fowey and Gribben Head. Flying Hawk 1/1a aircraft, the 2006 team is Red 6 - Flight Lieutenant Jim Turner The river estuary is a spectatular arena. From a high viewpoint it is almost as if you are above the planes at times. Forming up over the coast we begin the synchro pair display Tradition has it that the pilots return to Fowey after the display for a pasty supper at the King of Prussia pub. |
