A38 Dobwalls Bypass - August 2007 - Havett HillUnfortunately as I was working I missed the lorries navigating the sharp right hand junction from the A38 onto Havett Hill. By Wednesday evening the beams had been lowered into position and the cross supports bolted into place. Just like a big mechano set. We can see the cross supports bolted into place for strength. The crane weights have been removed onto low loaders. The 500t crane is limited to 30mph, has a fuel consumption of 2 miles per gallon and each tyre costs over £1000! The crane is all packed up and ready to move onto it's next job. We can now begin to see the depth of the cutting. Just to the East of Havett Hill a bat bridge is being constructed along the line of the hedge that has been removed. As the month progresses more is added to the bridge superstructure. Steel grids are set in place ready for the road surface and pavement. At the end of the day the heavy plant parks up in lines. |
