The RNLI's newest Tamar class lifeboat RNLB Rose makes a surprise arrival in Looe river.
RNLB Rose is the new Lizard lifeboat, currently on acceptance and familarisation trials she enters service later this month.
16 meters long she has a top speed of 25 knots and has a more confortable ride for the crew when out in the fierce Altantic seas around the Lizard.

As well as the latest lifeboat, two ex lifeboats are moored close to the boathouse.
The "Old Looe" lifeboat Ryder based in Polperro
and The William Cantrell Ashley, which is a restored Liverpool class lifeboat built in 1949 and served in Clovelly from 1950 to 1969, she is now based in Looe and offers pleasure trips around the bay.
Even though the Ollie Naismith has been on station since November 2010. Today's dedication and naming ceremony marks the official hand over of the lifeboat into the care of Looe RNLI.
After she is named the lifeboat is launched into the river for a demonstration in front of the assembled crowd.
