Not the Gilbert and Sullivan opera, but 8734 pirates to be precise, assembled all together on the promenade at Penzance.
Skull caps and eye patches were entertained by the Golowan band.
The Captain keeps his crew under control.
The pirate gathering was part of the Golowan Festival which celebrates the traditional feast of St John.
Each priate paid £1 to charity and joined the crowds along Penzance promenade.
This gathering beats the previous record of 6166 held by Hastings since 2010.
I travelled down to Penzance by train from Liskeard.
At every stop there were more pirates on the platform waiting to board the train.
Groups and families were all dressed up for the occasion.
To be counted as a pirate you needed a hat or bandana, eyepatch, cutlass or a mascot.
