12th July 2009 - Zapcat racing - Plymouth HoeSunday 12th July saw round 8 of the 2009 Zapcat championships.For the Plymouth grand prix, the course was laid just below Smeaton's This location provided a spectactular view of the racing. Each heat takes the format of a 5 lap race. For the first lap all the zapcats have to miss out the chicane. as they race pass the jetties. Passing the wet pits the Zapcats head out into Plymouth sound. It is a rolling start for each heat. Yellow and green flags on the start boat control the start. With the chicance the course looks like the figure "M". The choice of taking the pit lane early or late on the heat can determine if the team can get into a position of "clean" water. rather than getting in the wake from a competitor. zapcat-racing.co.uk reports cloudy blue skys with wind gusting to 28mph.
