7th September 2008 - DehwelansDehwelans or keskerdh kernow literaly means homecoming.The Cornish are coming! to a week long festival to celebrate cornish culture. A performance marquee has been set up on the Millpool. Sunday was the final day of the festival, local restuarants cooked up seafood and local produce. This was called "grazing on the riverside" and the sun came out for a change! Over at the Rose Garden in East Looe musicians entertain the crowds. On the seafront, Miner Quay, a local singing group sang sea shantys. Pirate FM broadcasts live, and Troy! Asterveryn entertain with traditional dancing. Some of the spectators join in. There is another dance group down by the Guildhall. A brass ensemble plays. Down on the beach you can have a go at Cornish wrestling. |
