A38 Dobwalls Bypass - November 2006 - Attenuation PondsWhen it rains there will be a volume of run off water from the drains on new road. To prevent the run off flooding the streams and silting them up, a series of attenuation ponds will be built. Each set of ponds captures and stores the water, allowing the sediment to settle, before a controlled discharge into adjoining streams or rivers. There will be 3 groups of attenuation ponds - the first set on the NE side of the road by Looe Mills has just been marked out. This set of ponds will control the flow of water into the East Looe River which flows along the base of Highwood . Two other sets of attenuation ponds will be built, the second towards the middle of the new scheme by Scratches and the third set to the west by the new roundabout.
