A38 Dobwalls Bypass - March 2008- Old A38 - Lantoom HillWith the opening of the Moorswater Distributor Road work has already commenced to remove the original A38 along Lantoom Hill. Planing work has started to remove the old tarmac layers. Looking accross from the distributor road we can clearly see the geology underneath the old road. The banking has already been removed by the old layby at Lantoom Quarry. Planing machines are removing the old road surface. Here we can see the thickness of the old surfaces. Heavy lorries are taking the excavated earth and planing chips over to the enbankment being built over the railway line at Treburgie Water. The old A38 has already been removed for the extension of the Eastern junction. below the Eastern junction we can see the old junction to Blackdown Farm and look down the valley towards Highwood. The old A38 is quickly removed. Access to Blackdown Farm is maintained. The other side of the jumction is now being built. |
