A38 Dobwalls Bypass - August 2008- Charity walkIt has become a tradition to hold a charity walk along a new dual carriageway before it opens. Interserve in conjunction with Liskeard Lions and Rotary clubs have arranged for a charity walk along the 5km route on Sunday 10th August 2008. 3 walks were arranged and the rain held off all day for the walkers. The first walk of the day started at 9am. There was a tragic incident in the village the previous Thursday so before the walk strated we held a minutes silence in remembrance of Peter Seaman. Children from Dobwalls School started the walk by cutting the ribbon. We walk along the western carrigeway towards Moorswater. The second walk started at 11am. These pictures were taken from Coldwinds lane. For the third walk at 1pm, I stood on the new bridge at Havett Hill. Councillor George Hocking led the way on his electric wheelchair. We walked at 9am. The 1km point is beyond Havett Hill bridge. 2km is by the new bridge at Looe Mills junction. Michael Taylor from BBC Radio Cornwall was talking to walkers when the Cornwall Air Ambulance flew overhead. The Air Ambulance is one of the charities to benefit from the entrance fee for the walk. Water was available at the half way point by Moorswater. 3km is back by Looe Mills junction and 4km is at Petersfield. 5km is not to far from the finish and here is the proof we completed the route. More information and entry forms can be found on the Highways agency web site. |
