15th May 2010 - Eden - Rainforest Biome at Night
The Rainforest and Mediterranean Biomes of Eden were constructed in 160 year old China Clay workings.
Tonight there is something different at the Biomes, as Eden joins the national Museums at Night campaign, inviting visitors to explore the Rainforest Biome afterdark.
Before sundown we can explore the Mediterranean Biome as spring flowers bloom.
As the sun sets we enter the Rainforest Biome.
By torchlight we can experience the sounds of the rainforest at night.
I used a torch to focus and a flashgun to illuminate the trees, changing white balance settings between tungstan and flash.
Tungstan cretas a blue cast that contrasts well against the green foliage.
Where as the flash setting gives a greyer colour.
The hexagonal construction of the Rainforest Biome creates graphic abstract images.
Changing the White Balance from Tungstan to Flash produces different colour casts.
