Taking a dozen crews from Valencia, in Spain, to the Bay of Morlaix, in Brittany,
via Lisbon (Portugal), Dublin-DĂșn Laoghaire (Ireland) and Plymouth (Great Britain).
This event is exclusively for multihulls, it will bring together more than a dozen boats divided into three classes: Multi50, MOD70 and Ultimate.
After each leg of the race, the teams spend a few days at each port.
Eight trimarans arrived in Plymouth.
Their arrival was planned to co-incide with the Plymouth Festival of Sail event.
During their stay the teams compete in a short series of inshore races.
Unfortunatley today the wind conditions were to adverse for racing within Plymouth Sound, so the course was laid outside the breakwater.
The trimarans were to far offshore for any photographs taken from the Hoe, so these images were taken as they made their way to the start line.
The race was created and promoted by Prince de Bretagne, a producer of fresh vegetables in Brittany, France.
This Maxi 80 "Ultimate" is the fleet flagship.
She is 80' long, 24.38m, 18.20m wide, has a draft of 30.20m.
Her sail surface is 305m rising to 400m downwind.
Plenty of seats for spectators!.
Banners show the route of the race.
At sea, four separate stages will take the teams through very varied conditions,
from the Mediterranean to the North Sea.
