For a hour or so the polo ponies enjoy splashing in the surf.
Each team has three players.
One in attack, one midfield and one in defence.
The beach pitch will be 100 by 50 yards with a goal at each end.
The game is played over four chukkas.
For the publicity photos the players gallop along the surf line.
During the match players will change horses to ensure they are not exhausted and are able to rest between chukkas.
The weather broke with sunshine during the afternoon, rain is forcast for tomorrow morning clearing later in the afternoon.
Polo originated in Persia, maybe as early as the 5th centuary BC, starting as a training exercise for the kings troops.
