The 19th century stone pier at East Looe is known as the Banjo Pier, due to it's quirky shape.
At 12 noon crowds assemble at the end of the Pier to welcome the musicians.
I am not sure what the collective noun is for a line of Banjo players.
the idea for "banjos on the Banjo" came about following a visit home by Nashville based Looe boy, and banjo player, Sim Daley. A former fisherman.
Over 40 Piers, Harbours and Jetties around Britain have organised parties.
The original stone groyne caused the harbour to silt up.
Joeseph Thomas a Civil Engineer proposed and designed the later round addition to prevent the silting.
Joeseph Thomas is also responsible for designing the road along the west side of the river to Hannafore.
