5th March 2011 - St Pirans day in Perranporth.

SW 7685 5638 - The Cornish flag flies over Chapel Rock in Perranporth as the sun sets on St Piran's day.

As the sun sets, Perranporth prepares to welcome St Piran.

At 6pm a statue of St Piran is brought ashore, re-enacting the legend that Piran floating on a millstone was washed ashore on this very beach.

On the promenade banners, musicians, giants and schoolchildren wait for Piran's arrival.

The procession sets off around the town.
