The last two Sundays are the first time in 50 years that steam engines have ran along the branch line.
Following the same format as last week, the Tamar Syphon arrives at Liskeard.
Crossing over to the London line the train moves onto the looe Valley line.
The Looe Valley Explorer is now reading for boarding on Platform 3.
The train crosses Terrace Pil.
On the return run to Liskeard the noise of the steam engine disturbs the geese on the East Looe river mud flats.
With original 1960's carriages the train was hauled by an English Electric type 3 class 37 deisel from Coombe junction to Looe.
The return to Coombe has the GWR Pannier No 9466 hauling the train. The deisel then takes over for the climb up to Liskeard.
Moving from Terras Pil I went to Sandplace Halt to wait for the next train.
In the evening I went down to Lodge crossing to see the last train of the day return to Liskeard.
Then back to Liskeard to watch the train move back onto the main line for it's return journey to Plymouth as the Royal Albert.
We had to wait for the FGW London - Penzance and Penzance - London high speed trains to depart before the line was clear.
At the front is the GWR Pannier Tank No 9466.
Dusk falls as the rain moves out of the station.
