Responding to their pagers, volunteer crew were running into the Lifeboat station.
The first to launch was the B Class Atlantic 75 "The Alan & Margaret". As they left the river they headed west towards Looe Island and Polperro.
Walking back to Hannafore I could see in the distance the lifeboat by another boat close to the rocks off Looe Island.
By this time the smaller D Class boat "Regina Mary" was also in attendance.
The casualty was the Islander ferry which had suffered engine problems. The lifeboats towed the Islander back into Looe.
They made their way to the Islander's mooring on West Looe Quay.
Where mechanics were bought accross from East Looe to fix the problem.
The lifeboats then returned to the boathouse.
