Welcome to Zell am See. A town on the Western shore of the Zeller Zee, a galcial lake at the foot of the Schmittenhohe mountain in the Kitzbulher Alps.
The Schmittenhohe overshadows the town and chalets hug the hillside.
The Zeller Zee is a glacial lake - it is 8km in circumferance.
During the summer a passenger steamer takes you for an hours cruise around the lake.
Down on the lakeside is the Grand Hotel.
All sorts of boats use the lake in the summer.
You can walk around the lake - mostly on paths by the water side - partly by road on the easternside through Thumersbacher
A ferry will take you from Zell am See to Thumersbacher on the other side of the lake if you do not feel like walking.
