To make it easier, visiting gigs are launched from the slipway at Polean, the far end of the Millpool car park.
The first race of the Looe Gig Regatta is scheduled for 1pm.
Rowers and their gigs have to wait for enough water in the West Looe River to walk and row the gigs down river to East Looe beach.
As the tide comes in the crews bring the gigs down the slipway.
